Common Questions

Still deciding? These are the questions BSSA hears most before someone joins.

Do I need to be a Biology major to join?

[Placeholder] No — BSSA welcomes any student interested in the biological sciences, regardless of major.

Is there a membership fee?

[Placeholder] BSSA has no membership fee — just show up to a meeting or event to get started.

When can I join — is it only at the start of the semester?

[Placeholder] Any time — hit "Login / Join" in the nav whenever you're ready, there's no deadline or cutoff during the semester.

Do I need research or lab experience already?

[Placeholder] Not at all. Most members join with zero lab experience — that's part of what BSSA and its resources, like peer tutoring and research opportunities, are for.

What if I can't make general meetings?

[Placeholder] General meetings are mostly announcements — showing up to committee events and socials is just as much a part of being a member.
